Hi,
This disk contains two versions of The Online World resources handbook:
[1] The ascii version. Enter
A:HELP
for instructions about how to read this. (First, you need to press
the ESC button to quit this reading program.)
[2] The hypertext (html) version.
Handling the hypertext version
==============================
The hypertext version consists of one file per chapter/appendix. These
files are shipped in a compressed file. This file is a self-extract
ZIP file called ONLHTM??.EXE. (The ?? contains the version number.
Changes by version.)
Example: Version 2.1 is called ONLHTM21.EXE
You are recommended to store the extracted files in a directory under your
C:\WINDOWS directory called BOOK (C:\WINDOWS\BOOK). You can prepare the
files in several ways. This is how it is done under MS-DOS:
(a) To create the new directory on your disk
MD C:\WINDOWS\BOOK
(b) Navigate to this directory
CD C:\WINDOWS\BOOK
(c) With the diskette in A:, use this command to extract:
A:ONLHTM21
The chapters will be retrieved from the distribution file, one by
one, and be stored in C:\WINDOWS\BOOK
(d) Now, start Windows, and your favorite Internet browsing program.
If you use Netscape, select File, Open File, and enter
C:\WINDOWS\BOOK\I.HTM
Click on OK to load the handbook's index. Add this to Netscape's
bookmark file, and you are ready to go.
Have a nice trip!
Thanks,
