  3. This disk contains two versions of The Online World resources handbook:

  5.   [1] The ascii version. Enter 
  6.  
  7.               A:HELP
  8.  
  9.       for instructions about how to read this. (First, you need to press
  10.       the ESC button to quit this reading program.)
  11.  
  12.   [2] The hypertext (html) version.

  15. Handling the hypertext version
  16. ==============================

  18. The hypertext version consists of one file per chapter/appendix. These
  19. files are shipped in a compressed file. This file is a self-extract
  20. ZIP file called ONLHTM??.EXE. (The ?? contains the version number.
  21. Changes by version.)
  22.  
  23. Example: Version 2.1 is called ONLHTM21.EXE
  24.  
  25. You are recommended to store the extracted files in a directory under your
  26. C:\WINDOWS directory called BOOK (C:\WINDOWS\BOOK). You can prepare the
  27. files in several ways. This is how it is done under MS-DOS:

  29. (a) To create the new directory on your disk
  30.  
  31.     MD C:\WINDOWS\BOOK
  32.  
  33. (b) Navigate to this directory
  34.  
  35.     CD C:\WINDOWS\BOOK
  36.  
  37. (c) With the diskette in A:, use this command to extract:
  38.  
  39.     A:ONLHTM21
  40.  
  41.     The chapters will be retrieved from the distribution file, one by
  42.     one, and be stored in C:\WINDOWS\BOOK
  43.  
  44. (d) Now, start Windows, and your favorite Internet browsing program.
  45.     If you use Netscape, select File, Open File, and enter 
  46.         C:\WINDOWS\BOOK\I.HTM
  47.     Click on OK to load the handbook's index. Add this to Netscape's
  48.     bookmark file, and you are ready to go.
